
Two consecutive earthquakes jolted Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday morning, causing widespread alarm across the valley. The first earthquake, with a magnitude of 4.9, struck at 6:45 am, with its epicenter located in Baramulla at a depth of 5 kilometers. Just seven minutes later, at 6:52 am, a second earthquake measuring 4.8 in magnitude hit the same area, this time at a depth of 10 kilometers.
The coordinates for the first tremor were 34.17°N latitude and 74.16°E longitude, while the second quake’s epicenter was pinpointed at 34.20°N latitude and 74.31°E longitude. Despite the significant tremors, authorities have confirmed that there were no casualties or damage to property. Officials continue to monitor the situation for any further developments.
