Kochi: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is set to interrogate actor Siddique today regarding a rape case filed by a female actor. After agreeing to the questioning, Siddique sent an email to the probe team confirming his appearance. The interrogation is scheduled to begin at 11 am at the Police Commissioner’s office in Thiruvananthapuram. The questioning is expected to last for the next three to four days, with the SIT aiming to gather crucial information about the allegations.
In August, a rape case was registered against Siddique by the Museum police in Thiruvananthapuram. The female actor who filed the complaint alleges that Siddique raped her in 2016 at the Mascot Hotel following a film preview. The complaint was lodged after the release of the Hema Committee report, which highlighted issues of harassment within the Malayalam film industry.
On September 24, the Kerala High Court rejected Siddique’s plea for anticipatory bail, citing the seriousness of the charges and the need for custodial interrogation. Siddique has been charged under Sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The actor maintains his innocence, stating that the complainant has been harassing him with false accusations since 2019. Despite this, the Supreme Court granted Siddique interim protection from arrest on September 30, allowing the investigation to continue without immediate arrest.
