The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather warning for Kerala, forecasting widespread rain and thunderstorms across the state until August 16. For Saturday, a yellow alert is in effect for Palakkad and Malappuram districts, with an orange alert issued for Sunday. The orange alert indicates very heavy rainfall, ranging from 11 cm to 20 cm. On Sunday, Idukki, Kozhikode, and Wayanad will also be under a yellow alert.
The forecast includes thunderstorms with lightning and squally weather, featuring wind speeds of 35-45 kmph and gusts reaching up to 55 kmph along the south Kerala coast. Due to these adverse conditions, fishermen are advised to avoid venturing into the Kerala coast until August 14.
