The two Plus One students from Tanur who went missing earlier this week were safely brought back to Kerala on Saturday. The girls, who were located by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Lonavala railway station near Pune, have been shifted to a Children’s Welfare Committee (CWC) care home for their safety and well-being. They will not be sent home with their parents immediately and will undergo counseling before reuniting with their families.
The girls arrived in Kerala by noon on Saturday, and their statements have been recorded by both the police and the CWC. The Kerala Police, in collaboration with the Railway Police, tracked the girls’ mobile phone locations, which played a crucial role in locating them quickly.
The students had left their homes on Wednesday, claiming they were heading to Devadhar Government Higher Secondary School for exams. At the time, one girl had only Rs 5, while the other had Rs 200. They were identified by railway officials using photographs provided by the Kerala Police while traveling on the Chennai Egmore Express.
Authorities are ensuring the girls receive proper care and counseling before they are sent home, prioritizing their emotional and mental well-being. The incident has raised concerns about the safety and supervision of teenagers, prompting calls for better awareness and preventive measures.
