With the world observing International Anti-Drug Day on June 26, the Kerala Government has decided to keep liquor outlets closed for the day.
The state will observe a complete dry day on Wednesday, meaning none of the liquor shops, including beverage outlets, Consumerfed liquor stores, and premium liquor stores, will operate. This move supports the anti-drug campaign scheduled for Wednesday.
In response to the announcement, long queues were seen in front of liquor stores, as people rushed to purchase alcohol before the closure.
The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, observed annually on June 26, aims to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve a world free of drug abuse. The theme for Anti-Drug Day 2024 is “The evidence is clear: invest in prevention.”
