Three school students who went missing from Fort Kochi have been found safe near the Thampanoor railway station in Thiruvananthapuram. According to the police, the students were located early this morning, wandering near the station premises. The children reportedly told the police that they had no idea how they reached Thampanoor. Their statement claimed that someone had offered them a drink near Karippalam in Mattancherry, after which they lost consciousness. When they regained their senses, they found themselves in Thampanoor. However, the police have not taken this version at face value and are continuing their investigation.
The three boys – Muhammad Afrid, Muhammad Hafis, and Adil Muhammad – went missing two days ago from the Cheralayikkadavu area of Fort Kochi. Hafis is a sixth-grade student, while Afrid and Adil are in the ninth grade. Authorities and families initially suspected that the students had boarded a train, as approximately ₹3,000 was found missing from the homes of two of the boys. It was believed that the children may have used the money for a trip without informing anyone.
The police have asked the parents to come to Thiruvananthapuram for further inquiry. While the students are now safe, the incident has raised concerns about child safety, stranger danger, and the need for awareness regarding potential abduction tactics.
