G. Sudhakaran, senior leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), has stressed that simply chanting slogans for the return of the Left government will not suffice. Speaking at a gathering in Cherthala, he emphasized the importance of winning the trust of the people through honest and humble engagement. Sudhakaran highlighted that the continuation of Left governance in Kerala is possible, but only through meaningful work, introspection, and public support.
He called for self-criticism within the party and noted the necessity of Left unity, which he described as a “historical imperative.” Referring to the past split in the Left Democratic Front (LDF) coalition government, Sudhakaran admitted that the decision should have been avoided and acknowledged that the party has since evaluated that mistake.
He added that secularism and the fight against communalism are core missions of the Left, along with defending the rights of workers and the common people. However, mere slogans like “This is Kerala” won’t make a difference unless they’re backed by action.
Meanwhile, Sudhakaran’s controversial comment about alleged vote rigging in the election has sparked legal scrutiny. A case will be registered following legal advice from the Deputy Director of Prosecution in Alappuzha. The District Collector had previously submitted a formal letter to the South Police Station demanding action in the matter.
