Anderson Peters of Grenada claimed the top spot with a meet-record throw of 90.61 meters, while Germany’s Julian Weber finished third with an 87.08-meter effort. Despite a slow start, Neeraj climbed to third place with an 85.58-meter throw on his penultimate attempt before securing second place with his final throw, marking the second-best performance of his career. Neeraj’s personal best remains the 89.94-meter throw he achieved at the Stockholm Diamond League in 2022.
Neeraj’s performance in Lausanne comes after a challenging season marked by injury concerns, including an adductor issue that affected his performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Nevertheless, he remains in strong contention for the Diamond League Final in Brussels this September, where he aims to build on his 2022 title win. Despite finishing second in Lausanne and at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Neeraj has demonstrated resilience and determination, showcasing his ability to compete at the highest level despite setbacks.
