New Delhi: Guy Nir, the spokesperson for the Israeli Embassy in India, emphasized the alignment between India and Israel in their strong condemnation of terrorism. He praised India as a peaceful nation and expressed gratitude for India’s support in addressing global terror threats. Nir appreciated Prime Minister Modi’s consistent stance against terrorism, which he views as a shared commitment between the two countries to eradicate extremist activities.
Nir went on to criticize Iran’s condemnation of Israel’s actions, labeling it ironic since, according to him, Iran has a long history of supporting terrorism and is responsible for thousands of deaths. He further questioned Iran’s silence when Israeli civilians were targeted by terrorist activities, highlighting Iran’s hypocrisy in condemning actions aimed at eliminating terrorists.
Regarding the ongoing conflict in Gaza, Nir made it clear that Israel will not rest until all hostages held by Hamas are freed. He explained that while Hezbollah has been indiscriminately firing rockets at Israel for the past year, Israel has now begun to retaliate more forcefully. Over the last few weeks, they have targeted high-ranking Hezbollah officials and are conducting ground operations to neutralize terrorists.
When asked about the duration of the conflict, Nir expressed Israel’s desire for a swift resolution, acknowledging that the longer the fighting continues, the greater the risk to Israeli soldiers. On the subject of a ceasefire, Nir reiterated that Israel would not stop its military actions until the hostages are returned, insisting that self-defense and the elimination of terrorist threats remain the nation’s top priorities. He added that while Israel is exploring diplomatic channels, dealing with terrorists often leaves limited room for negotiation.
