Israel has significantly escalated its military operations in the Gaza Strip, with intense airstrikes killing at least 51 Palestinians early Tuesday morning. According to health authorities in Gaza, 45 of the deaths occurred in the northern Jabaliya region alone, one of the most heavily populated areas. The renewed assault comes shortly after strikes targeted two major medical facilities—Nasser Hospital and the European Hospital—in southern Gaza, where at least 30 people, including a journalist receiving treatment, lost their lives.
Humanitarian concerns continue to mount, as reports confirm that 36 hospitals in Gaza have been destroyed since the conflict began. International news outlets, including Al Jazeera, cite officials stating that these attacks may constitute war crimes under the Geneva Convention of 1949, which protects civilian infrastructure and medical facilities during wartime.
While on a diplomatic visit to Saudi Arabia, former U.S. President Donald Trump remarked that efforts are underway to bring the conflict to a close. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu countered, stating that halting military operations is not currently an option.
Since the start of the war, over 52,900 Palestinians have reportedly died and more than 119,000 have been injured. On the Israeli side, the death toll stands at 1,139. The situation remains dire, with civilian lives caught in the crossfire and no immediate sign of de-escalation.
