Israel has intensified its military operations, launching a fresh wave of missile strikes targeting a group in southern Beirut accused of financing Hezbollah, according to Times of Israel. These attacks followed a series of retaliatory operations by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) after Hezbollah fired multiple rockets into northern Israel. The IDF also carried out its deepest ground incursion into Lebanon in response to Hezbollah’s aggression.
Earlier on Sunday, Israeli airstrikes devastated Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza, resulting in 73 deaths according to local Gaza authorities, though the IDF has cast doubt on these figures, calling them exaggerated. Rescue teams are still working to free those trapped under the rubble, with Gaza’s Government Media Office warning that the death toll could rise further.
The situation in northern Gaza remains critical, with the region under a 16-day siege, cutting off access to essential resources like food, water, and medicine.
These developments also follow an assassination attempt on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu via a drone attack. Netanyahu warned Hezbollah, which he described as Iran’s proxy, against making further “grave mistakes” after Israeli air defenses intercepted two additional drones launched from Lebanon, triggering alarms in Tel Aviv. The Prime Minister stated that such actions would not deter Israel from eliminating those responsible for orchestrating terrorist activities.
The ongoing tensions mark a significant escalation between Israel, Hezbollah, and Hamas, with both sides ramping up their military efforts.
