In a significant operation in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, a heavily armed terrorist was neutralized by a joint team comprising the Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir Police. The operation led to the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and ammunition, including one AK rifle, two AK magazines, 57 rounds of AK ammunition, two pistols, three pistol magazines, and other war-like materials. The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps confirmed these details, highlighting the successful thwarting of a potential infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC).
Based on credible intelligence inputs, a joint anti-infiltration mission was initiated in the Uri area of Baramulla. Vigilant troops noticed suspicious movements and confronted the terrorists, who responded with indiscriminate gunfire. The troops retaliated effectively, leading to the neutralization of one terrorist. The operation is still ongoing as security forces continue to monitor the area for further threats.
In a separate tragic incident, two laborers were killed in a terrorist attack in the Gagangeer area of Ganderbal district. The laborers, working on an important infrastructure project, were targeted by militants, leaving two dead and several others injured. The attack drew widespread condemnation, including a statement from Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who described it as a “dastardly and cowardly” act against innocent and unarmed civilians. He offered his condolences to the victims’ families and strongly condemned the senseless violence.
Both incidents underscore the ongoing challenges faced by security forces and civilians in Jammu and Kashmir amidst heightened tensions in the region.
