X Restores Access After Widespread Outage Reported by Thousands of Users

X, the microblogging platform formerly known as Twitter, experienced a widespread service outage, leaving thousands of users unable to access the platform. Users reported issues around 11 am, stating that they couldn’t access the service or view posts on the platform. Downdetector, a downtime tracking service, received over 67,000 reports of X being inaccessible, with the Indian version of the website registering more than 4,800 similar complaints. While some sections of X, such as the Trending topics, appeared normal, clicking on topics did not display posts, and the main timeline was empty.

Despite the reported issues, Twitter’s API Status page indicated that “All Systems [were] Operational” at the time of publishing. Notably, Spaces, a feature on X, continued to function, allowing users to participate in discussions about the service’s unavailability. Direct messages and notifications were also visible, but users encountered difficulties viewing tweets when clicking on notifications. The platform’s owner, Elon Musk, was also affected by the outage, as posts from all users, including himself, were temporarily unavailable. The service has since been restored, and normal functionality appears to have resumed.
