Fishing Prohibited along Kerala Coast Due to Adverse Weather Conditions

The Central Meteorological Department has issued a warning advising against fishing activities along the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts on September 6 and 7. This caution is in response to the presence of strong winds ranging from 40 to 45 kmph, occasionally reaching up to 55 kmph, and unfavorable weather conditions anticipated during these two days.

Furthermore, current weather conditions include winds of 45 to 55 kmph, with occasional gusts up to 65 kmph along the Sri Lankan coast and the southern Bay of Bengal. Similar wind speeds of 40 to 45 kmph, occasionally reaching 55 kmph, are expected over the northwest region adjoining the central west Bay of Bengal, the southern Tamil Nadu coast, and the adjacent Gulf of Mannar Kanyakumari coast.

Additional areas affected by strong winds and poor weather include the North Andhra Pradesh coast, the central west and northwest Bay of Bengal, the Kanyakumari coast, and areas with wind speeds of 45 to 55 kmph, occasionally gusting up to 65 kmph. South Tamil Nadu coast and the Gulf of Mannar may also experience gusty winds at these speeds.

The situation remains adverse on September 7, with strong winds of 45 to 55 kmph and occasional gusts of up to 65 kmph predicted along the southwestern Bay of Bengal adjacent to the Sri Lankan coast. On September 8, adverse conditions are expected over the Sri Lanka coast, the southwestern adjoining southeastern Bay of Bengal, the south Tamil Nadu coast, and the adjacent Kanyakumari coast, with wind speeds ranging from 40 to 45 kmph, occasionally reaching 55 kmph. Central West Bay of Bengal may also experience gusty winds of 45 to 55 kmph at times.

Looking ahead to September 9, the forecast indicates continued strong winds and adverse weather conditions along the Sri Lankan coast and the adjoining central Bay of Bengal to the south, with wind speeds of 40 to 45 kmph, occasionally reaching up to 55 kmph. In light of these warnings and the potential risks, it is strongly recommended to refrain from fishing activities in the designated areas during the specified days.
