Lucknow/Bulandshahr (UP): A tragic cylinder explosion in Bulandshahr’s Sikandrabad area has claimed the lives of five people, leaving three others injured, with one in critical condition. The blast occurred on Monday evening in the home of Riyazuddin, who worked in shuttering, a technique used to provide stability to concrete structures before they solidify. The explosion led to the collapse of the house, where approximately 19 people were living.
According to the District Magistrate of Bulandshahr, Chandra Prakash Singh, the blast took place in the Ashapuri colony between 8:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., causing the entire structure to collapse. Rescue efforts are ongoing, with authorities using gas cutters to dismantle the iron beams of the house’s roof and excavators to clear the debris.
Senior police officers, including Additional Director General of Police Dhruva Kant Thakur, confirmed that some individuals were still trapped under the debris. Meanwhile, the Chief Medical Officer of Bulandshahr verified the deaths of five people and assured that 10 individuals were safely rescued.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath immediately responded to the situation, ordering swift medical treatment for the injured. Rescue personnel from the NDRF, fire brigade, police, and local administration have been working relentlessly to ensure that no one remains trapped under the rubble.
Despite family members believing no one else was caught in the debris, rescue teams continue their efforts to ensure no lives are further endangered. All the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations as investigations proceed to determine the cause of the explosion.
