Union Home Minister Amit Shah, addressing a rally in Dhalbhumgarh, Jharkhand, strongly criticized the JMM-led government, accusing it of promoting “vote-bank politics” by allegedly supporting Bangladeshi infiltrators. Shah claimed this influx has posed a threat to the livelihoods, land, and safety of the state’s tribal communities. Highlighting concerns about the “declining tribal population” in areas like Santhal Parganas and Kolhan, Shah pledged that a BJP government would introduce tough legislation to stop the transfer of tribal lands to illegal immigrants and take measures to reclaim occupied lands.
Additionally, Shah accused the Hemant Soren administration of tolerating Naxalism, asserting that only the BJP, under Prime Minister Modi, has significantly reduced Naxal activities in Jharkhand. He emphasized that a BJP victory would ensure 27% reservation for OBCs without disturbing the current reservation for other communities.
Outlining BJP’s promises, Shah committed to improving tribal welfare through an increased budget, contrasting the Rs 24,000 crore allocation under the previous UPA government with the Modi administration’s Rs 1.24 lakh crore. Shah also promised to secure minimum support prices for 51 forest products and set paddy procurement at Rs 3,100 per quintal with a quick 48-hour payment process.
As Jharkhand’s 81-seat Assembly prepares for a two-phase election on November 13 and 20, Shah urged voters to support BJP candidates Champai Soren, Babulal Soren, and Dineshanand Goswami, emphasizing the party’s commitment to stopping out-migration and enhancing opportunities for Jharkhand’s residents. Vote counting is scheduled for November 23.
