President-elect Donald Trump issued a stern warning regarding the ongoing hostage situation in Gaza, stating that “all hell will break out in the Middle East” if hostages held by Hamas are not released before his inauguration on January 20. Speaking at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, Trump emphasized the gravity of the situation, blaming the October 7, 2023, attack by Hamas on Israel for escalating tensions.
Steve Witkoff, Trump’s pick as special envoy to the Middle East, shared an optimistic outlook, stating significant progress has been made in negotiations for a ceasefire and the release of hostages. However, the Biden administration remains cautious, citing the complex and challenging nature of these talks despite efforts to secure agreements since the attack.
During the press conference, Trump addressed other contentious topics, including his intention to acquire control of Greenland and the Panama Canal. He criticized past decisions, particularly Jimmy Carter’s handover of the Panama Canal, calling it a “disgrace.” Trump also suggested that Greenland could vote to join the U.S. and proposed renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America.”

His remarks came a day after Congress certified his electoral victory, with Trump securing 312 electoral votes.
