New Delhi: The Indian Railways has launched its longest Vande Bharat train service, covering 994 kilometres between Delhi and Patna in just 11.5 hours. This new service has been introduced to cater to the growing passenger demand during the festive season, especially around Diwali. The Vande Bharat Express promises to significantly reduce travel time, providing a faster and more convenient travel option compared to traditional trains.
With eight scheduled trips during the festive period, ticket prices for this service are set at Rs 2,575 for AC chair cars and Rs 4,655 for executive class seating. While the current train configuration includes only seating coaches, the Indian Railways plans to add sleeper coaches soon, enhancing comfort for longer journeys.
This new service surpasses the previous longest Vande Bharat route, which was between New Delhi and Varanasi. That route, inaugurated in February 2019, covered 771 kilometres in eight hours. Vande Bharat trains are designed to replace older Shatabdi services, offering modern facilities, greater efficiency, and a smoother travel experience. The future addition of sleeper coaches aims to make long-distance travel even more comfortable for passengers across India.
