Following the recent ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, daily life in Jammu and Kashmir is steadily returning to normal, especially in the sensitive border regions. Schools, which were shut temporarily due to escalating tensions and shelling, are now set to reopen. The Education Department has instructed that all educational institutions, including those near the Line of Control (LoC), should resume functioning from today.
Despite the ceasefire, India continues to raise strong objections against Pakistan’s recurring violations of the truce. In response, security forces have intensified surveillance and presence in the border areas. Recently, unidentified drones were spotted near the international border in Samba district. The military, however, reassured the public that the overall situation remains under control and peaceful.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited the worst-hit region of Poonch to review the ground situation. Poonch had witnessed heavy shelling that tragically claimed the lives of 13 people and injured several others. The Chief Minister expressed solidarity with the victims, stating that the suffering of Poonch is shared by all, and praised the courage of residents who stood strong during the crisis.
Meanwhile, air travel, which had been disrupted due to conflict-related concerns, is gradually resuming. Most airports have announced the restoration of services from today, although Air India has temporarily suspended flights to key destinations such as Chandigarh, Jammu, Leh, Amritsar, Jodhpur, Bhuj, Jamnagar, and Rajkot.
