The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that heavy rainfall will persist in Kerala until Wednesday, with the hilly regions of central and southern districts expected to receive the most intense showers. The ongoing rain is attributed to a cyclonic circulation over South Karnataka and a low-pressure area extending from Karnataka to Kanyakumari.
As a result, the IMD has issued orange alerts in the districts of Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, and Pathanamthitta, while yellow alerts have been announced for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod. Additionally, a fishing ban has been imposed along the Kerala coast due to the possibility of high waves reaching up to 3.3 meters. Residents are advised to remain cautious and follow safety guidelines.
