Kerala Bevco to Open Premium Outlets at Kochi Metro Stations

New Bevco Outlets Planned at Vadakkekotta and Vyttila Stations

Kochi: The Kerala State Beverages Corporation (Bevco) is set to open premium liquor outlets at Vadakkekotta and Vyttila metro stations in Kochi. This initiative aims to expand Bevco’s services and offer greater accessibility to customers.

Project in Early Stages

Bevco officials have confirmed that the project is still in its initial phase, with discussions ongoing regarding necessary permissions. Key approvals, including clearance from the Excise Department, are yet to be secured. Additionally, authorities must ensure that the outlets comply with regulations, such as restrictions on opening near educational institutions, places of worship, and other sensitive locations.

Pilot Project with Expansion Plans

The new premium outlets will initially be launched as a pilot project. If successful, Bevco may consider expanding to more Kochi Metro stations. The choice of Vadakkekotta and Vyttila is strategic due to high foot traffic and easy accessibility.

Kochi Metro’s Commercial Space Initiative

The move aligns with Kochi Metro’s efforts to increase non-ticket revenue by renting out commercial spaces to businesses. This initiative could enhance the metro’s financial sustainability while offering convenience to customers.

With Bevco’s expansion into metro stations, Kochi commuters could soon have access to premium liquor stores in a more organized and modern retail environment. However, the project’s implementation will depend on securing regulatory approvals and addressing public concerns.
