Sultan Bathery: In an unexpected yet touching gesture, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi surprised one of her oldest admirers, Thressia, during her visit to Wayanad on Tuesday. Thressia, an elderly resident of Sultan Bathery, had long been a fan of the Gandhi family, hoping for a chance to see Rahul Gandhi during his frequent visits. Unfortunately, a leg injury prevented her from meeting Priyanka during her latest trip.
Upon learning of Thressia’s admiration and inability to greet her due to her health condition, Priyanka, who had planned to visit on her return trip, decided to go to her fan’s house right away. Walking 200 meters from her vehicle to Thressia’s home, she brought a moment of sheer joy to the elderly woman. The visit, filled with warmth and affection, lasted for about 15 minutes, with Thressia and Priyanka sharing a special connection.
Thressia, overjoyed by the visit, gifted Priyanka a rosary, which Priyanka vowed to keep alongside the one Mother Teresa had given her. The Congress leader left with sweets for Rahul and Sonia Gandhi, as requested by Thressia. “Priyanka is like a daughter to me,” Thressia shared, her excitement evident.
Priyanka Gandhi was in Wayanad with her mother, Sonia Gandhi, to file her nomination for the upcoming Lok Sabha bypoll. Their visit, marked by this personal interaction, also included a roadshow scheduled in Kalpetta, where Priyanka will contest against CPI’s Sathyan Mokeri and BJP’s Navya Haridas.
