Renowned businessman Boby Chemmanur was taken into custody in Wayanad on Wednesday following a sexual harassment complaint lodged by actress Honey Rose. The complaint, filed at the Ernakulam Central Police Station, accuses Chemmanur of subjecting Rose to repeated harassment through obscene remarks and gestures that demeaned her dignity.
Speaking about the incident, Rose revealed that the harassment had taken place four months ago, causing significant distress to her family. “This unpleasant experience deeply disturbed my family,” she said after filing her complaint.
Through her social media, Honey Rose stated that she is committed to pursuing legal action not only against Chemmanur but also against his associates who contributed to the harassment. “You may believe in the power of your wealth, but I believe in the strength of India’s legal system,” she wrote, emphasizing her resolve to seek justice.
Two days before Chemmanur’s arrest, Rose had hinted at the harassment on her social media without revealing names. Her disclosure, however, led to a surge in cyberattacks against her, resulting in around two dozen arrests by the police.
Honey Rose, who debuted with the 2005 Malayalam film Boyy Friennd, gained widespread recognition with her role in the 2012 film Trivandrum Lodge. She is now a sought-after actress, frequently appearing at public events and endorsements.
Boby Chemmanur, the chairman of the Chemmanur International Group, is known for his high-profile activities, including bringing football legend Diego Maradona to Kerala in 2012. Chemmanur also garnered attention in 2014 for his record-breaking marathon, which spanned 812 km from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram, aimed at creating the world’s largest blood bank. His efforts led to over 1.4 million people donating blood.
