India-Cambodia Direct Flight Operations Set to Begin June 16

Cambodia Angkor Air announced on Tuesday the commencement of the first-ever direct flight services between India and Cambodia, starting from June 16. The flights will operate four times a week, on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, connecting Phnom Penh and New Delhi.

Koy Kuong, Ambassador of the Royal Embassy of Cambodia to India, expressed optimism about the potential doubling of tourist flow between the two countries, attributing it to the direct flight connectivity and the growing demand for medical tourism in India.

Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, approximately 75,000 Indian tourists visited Cambodia annually. However, this number decreased to around 45,000 in 2021 due to travel restrictions. Ambassador Kuong highlighted the expectation of an increase in Cambodian nationals traveling to India for medical treatment, citing the comparatively lower cost of treatment compared to neighboring countries.

CCO Eng Molina of Cambodia Angkor Airline disclosed that the pricing for a round trip from New Delhi to Phnom Penh is approximately Rs 23,000 per person, inclusive of taxes.
